Feminine Matrix tells the story of the many facets to being a woman that includes both soft and hard edges. I can be complex (or so I’m told), at times misunderstood but my most common state is loving and gentle. But at the end of the day, this matrix is me and all the complexities it contains. This painting reflects that. The feminine colours against the precise edges show I can be both soft and hard edged when needed.
This is an abstract, piece painted in acrylic, using a technique called hard-edge painting. It’s where abrupt transitions are found between colour areas. The style is related to geometric abstraction. The foundation colours were first laid down. Then using a specific kind of tape, I created the hard edges. It has a matt finish.
